Exiting from the Bruce Highway at Maryborough from the south orImage Howard from the north, visitors can reach Hervey Bay within an easy four hours drive from Brisbane. Major coach lines run buses several times a day north and south to and from Hervey Bay sometimes via the Sunshine Coast and the Brisbane airport.

Brisbane is the main international and interstate airport for Hervey Bay. Several flights daily operate to and from Brisbane from Qantas link.  Virgin Airlines have direct flights to Sydney . Small aircraft offer services from the Hervey Bay Airport to the surrounding islands.

ImageDaily trains to and from Brisbane operate from Maryborough and on a regular basis north to Cairns. Trainlink buses departing from Bay Central provide transportation to the station.

The boating fraternity may utilise the marina facilities at the Boat Harbour when next they sail into Hervey Bay. Barge and catamaran services operate between the mainland and Fraser Island.

Local bus companies operate school and residential services to all suburbs and into Maryborough. Private buses are often run by some of the clubs, resorts and tour operators. A bikeway along the Esplanade provides opportunities for cycling along the foreshore.
