For those so inclined, fishing is possible off the beach, from a boat line or at one of the rivers on Fraser Island as well as along the foreshore of Hervey Bay.There are numerous sporting clubs for the active and many recreational clubs for fun and relaxation. The Police Citizen's Youth Club in Pialba offers the community of Hervey Bay and especially young people, a wide range of activities, including a comprehensive school holiday program. Many and varied activities for all age groups are available at community centres or community halls located in the other areas of Hervey Bay.

Hervey Bay also has a Skate Park in Torquay Road, Pialba which is supported through the Fraser Coast Regional Council and the Youth Development Officer.
