Sport and Recreation

ImageThe choices for relaxation, social activity and playing sport in Hervey Bay are abundant. People may take the family to one of the numerous parks and playgrounds for a picnic, or throw a sausage on one of the Free BBQs scattered along the foreshore.

Recreational tracks encourage people to cycle or walk midst natural surrounds. Recreational facilities for swimming, aerobics, boxing, lawn bowling, tennis, gymnastics, to name a few are also available. Swimming most of the year is possible because of the mild winter climate and the sheltered water of the Bay.  www.herveybaytennis.com.au is one of the many websites to view facilitites.

For those so inclined, fishing is possible off the beach, from a boat line or at one of the rivers on Fraser Island as well as along the foreshore of Hervey Bay.There are numerous sporting clubs for the active and many recreational clubs for fun and relaxation. The Police Citizen's Youth Club in Pialba offers the community of Hervey Bay and especially young people, a wide range of activities, including a comprehensive school holiday program. Many and varied activities for all age groups are available at community centres or community halls( including the new centre when it opens ) located in the other areas of Hervey Bay. Image

Hervey Bay also has a Skate Park in Torquay Road, Pialba which is supported through the Fraser Coast Regional Council and the Youth Development Officer.
